“Hey, you have my dollar yet?”
“Uhhh, I was walking down the hallway and someone stole it from me!”
“Oh… Okay, well just bring it next time okay.”

“Heya! You have it now?”
“Yes I do, but uhhh. I’m using it to buy a snack with.”
“But don’t you owe me money?”
“I’ll give it to you next time.”

“Hello. My friend said that you have my dollar.”
“Oh… Uh. I don’t. I just told her that because I thought you weren’t here.”
“Excuse me?”
“It’s just a dollar.”

“Where’s my dollar?”
“I gave it to your friend.”
“No you didn’t. I asked and she told me you refused to give it to her.”
“It’s only a dollar! You’re not going to go bankrupt!”
“Yeah! It’s only a dollar how hard can it be to repay!?”
“Oh come on. It doesn’t matter.”
“You know, I really don’t care about the dollar. It really is just a small price.”
“Exactly!”
“But it does tell me something, if I can’t even trust you to pay back one dollar, I can’t trust you with anything.”
Small things matter.

Written for someone I now genuinely distrust.
